Fun at The Inn Above the Tide

My wife and I took a much needed weekend getaway. Every year for our birthdays, we travel up north to San Francisco. It's kind of like our very own tradition now.

This time we stayed in Saulsalito which is the first city right past the Golden Gate Bridge. Saulsalito is home to one of our favorite restaurants; Scomas. We did not stop to eat at Scomas this time.

We stayed at Inn Above the Tide which was out of this world. I would definitely recommend a stay here. Especially if you can appreciate, fireplaces, spa tubs and being 5 feet from the Marina. They also have complimentary wine and cheese every evening. At night, my wife and I stepped out into the balcony and watched a few sea lions swim.

This time around, we took a day trip to Napa. We visited 3 wineries. Clos Pegase was our first stop. The grounds were amazing. The winery itself, is home to many pieces of art.

Clos Duval our second and our last stop was our next stop. Nice place too. My wife and I ate our lunch on their picnic grounds.

Our last winery stop was at The Hess Collection Winery This place was really nice. It was a drive up the hill. There is a very nice Modern Art collection here. I would highly recommend visiting.

We has dinner at La Toque and had tried thier tasting menu paired with wine. I will say that the wine at La Toque was the best I had all day.

A Beautiful Day

It was a very nice day out today. I took the opportunity to spend the day with my family. The skies were blue and the weather was just right.

My daughter and I hung out outside. She painted and I took some photos.

Her Sunday masterpiece!

Sidra Franklin Design

A few months back, I had the opportunity to shoot some interiors for Interior Designer, Sidra Franklin. It was actually her personal home in Hollywood. I was connected to her through the talented cabinet designer, Rick Laborico.

Anyhow, she has just completed her website. I have a few photos featured on www.sidrafranklindesign.com . Click on "Interior", then "Spanish Modern". Also, the first 3 photos under "Cucina Iberia".

On this Earth

My younger sister onced asked me, "Which photographer is your greatest influence?". At the time, I could not reply with a name as I did not have one. I mean, I really do admire many individual photographs or pieces from many different photographers. Sometimes I can stare and greatly admire a photograph my wife has taken. She is not a professional photographer.

Last year, while reviewing a photo magazine, I found the work of Nick Brandt. His work on African wildlife really blows me away! It certainly has changed my view on wildlife photography.
At any rate, this past Christmas, my brother purchased his book for me On This Earth: Photographs from East Africa . I highly recommend for anyone to flip through this book on your next visit to the bookstore. It's definitely enjoyable.
